However, if all viewers have access to is a Disney Plus account, here are some shows to stream that are similar in tone and theme to Tierra Incógnita.

10 Gravity Falls

This Emmy award-winning may have had a target audience of children, but it managed to draw in viewers from all age groups during its painfully short run. The animated mystery comedy accrued a massive fandom that continues to adore the show for its clever riddles, charming characters, and well-balanced humor.

Inspired by the creator’s memories of summer adventures (and his real-life twin sister), Gravity Falls follows twin siblings, Mabel and Dipper, as they spend their summer vacation uncovering the (often supernatural) secrets hidden in their great uncle’s eponymous town.

9 The Mysterious Benedict Society

Based on the children’s book series of the same name, The Mysterious Benedict Society centers on the eponymous organization whose strange and prone to fainting leader, Nicholas Benedict, gathers four exceptionally gifted children for a mission to save the world.

Like its literary predecessor, the series is zany and surreal but plenty of fun and riddled with clever puzzles for its protagonists (and audience if they’re quick enough) to solve. The Mysterious Benedict Society is scheduled to release its second season’s first two episodes in late October.

8 It Was Always Me

Featuring an uncommon mix of music and mystery, It Was Always Me revolves around journalism student, Lupe, who enters a music competition despite her fear of performing in public in order to investigate the sudden death of her famous musician father.

Although this series lacks the supernatural components that Tierra Incógnita is based around, It Was Always Me contains similar elements of mysterious parental demises and dark subject matter intentionally aimed at younger audiences. The series has a second season slated to come out in 2023.

7 Secrets Of Sulphur Springs

Secrets of Sulphur Springs is set at the site of the abandoned Tremont Hotel in the fictional town of Sulphur Springs. Griffin, the show’s protagonist, and his family move into the forsaken building, in the hopes of restoring the hotel to its former glory. While exploring his new home with Harper, a local town girl, Griffin stumbles on a portal that transports the pair thirty years into the past.

A past where Savannah, a young girl whose mysterious disappearance led to the closing of Tremont Hotel, is still alive and has a chance of changing her tragic fate.

6 Parallels

Four childhood friends are abruptly ripped away from each other and left stranded in two different parallel universes in this French science fiction series. The tight-knit group must go up against the laws of time and space in order to reunite.

Parallels is science fiction rather than supernatural like Tierra Incógnita, but the series still caters to an identical appeal of teenage-centric adventure and mystery. The show ties up the majority of its loose ends by its final episode so whether Parallels gets a second season remains to be seen.

5 Evermoor

An American teenager finds herself abruptly whisked away to the English countryside town of Evermore in this British fantasy series. Leading lady Tara soon discovers that her new home holds a tapestry that seemingly depicts future events. However, she’s not the only one with knowledge of the tapestry and its powers of prediction.

Tara finds herself up against a culty sewing circle that has its own claim over the tapestry. Rather than a second season, the show has a sequel series titled, TheEvermore Chronicles, featuring Tara’s step-sibling, Bella, as the protagonist.

4 Just Beyond

For viewers who not only enjoyed Tierra Incógnita but the Goosebumps series as well, this R.L. Stine inspired horror comedy series is a great choice. The eight-episode anthology is based on the iconic author’s titular graphic novel series. The story scenarios range from a girl’s boarding school with a dark underbelly to a beauty app that seems much too good to be true to a bully picking on someone his own size (and then some).

Although there is some mixed reception about the series, with some critics feelings its scares were lackluster, all agree that the performances are phenomenal. Which is an exceptional feat in a live-action children’s show.

3 So Weird

Throwback with this late 90s/early 2000s supernatural series that probes at everything from aliens to will o’ wisps to Bigfoot. So Weird revolves around Fiona and her rockstar mother’s entourage as they tour around the country.

As the crew travels in their tour bus, Fiona investigates local supernatural activity (the findings of which she posts to her eponymous website), all in the hope of finding a way to contact her deceased father. So Weird lasted three seasons but Fiona departs in the final season and the show brightens up its distinctly dark tone.

2 The Owl House

This critically acclaimed animated fantasy series has been favorably compared to shows such as Gravity Falls and She-Ra and the Princesses of Power for its strong writing, well-developed lore, and representation. The Owl House follows Luz, a young girl who gets a chance to become a witch when she stumbles through a portal to the magical Demon Realm.

There she meets her new companions, a witch named Eda but also known as “The Owl Lady” and a fun-sized demon, King. The Owl House has been noted for being the first Disney title to portray a same-sex leading couple, a same-sex kiss, and a non-binary character.

1 Gargoyles

This 90s cult classic is still hailed today for its dark tone, incredible writing, usage of story and character arcs, and mature themes. The beloved series stars a band of supernatural creatures referred to as gargoyles, that are incredibly strong and have the ability to fly by gliding but turn to stone when the sun rises.

A clan of gargoyles is nearly wiped out due to this vulnerability but a spare few manage to survive and find themselves in modern-day Manhattan. With the assistance of the kindhearted Detective Elisa Maza, the gargoyles decide to become the night guardians of their new metropolitan home.
