Warner Bros. will be bringing some of the biggest IPs to a platform fighter with MultiVersus, and fans are very excited to see the potential. Warner owns some of the biggest franchises in the world like DC, Game of Thrones, and The Looney Tunes. If Warner can enter this market and bring together these large franchises, then there is no reason that Disney could not do the same. Disney also owns some of the world’s biggest IPs, and a platform fighter from the studio would be one of the biggest crossovers around. If MultiVersus proves to be a success for Warner, then Disney should introduce its own version.

Disney Owns Some of the Biggest Franchises Around
Over the years, Disney has gathered some of the biggest franchises in the world under one roof. Ever since 2009, the company has owned Marvel Entertainment and has been responsible for a majority of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Disney also controls Lucasfilm and has been steadily expanding the world of Star Wars through numerous projects. The studio even owns Pixar and its treasure trove of iconic animated films. That is not even mentioning the various films that Walt Disney Animation and Walt Disney Studios have released since their creation.
In 2019, Disney expanded its portfolio even more when it purchased 21st Century Fox. This gave the company control of the Alien franchise, Predator, Avatar, Planet of the Apes, and even Die Hard. The acquisition also gave Disney control over the X-Men, Fantastic Four, and Deadpool film series. The studio even owns things like Family Guy and The Simpsons. It also seems committed to expanding its portfolio even more through many new projects from these studios as well as monthly additions to Disney Plus.
Disney MultiVersus Could Be Huge
With the amount of franchises that Disney owns, a giant crossover fighting game only makes sense. Fans could pit characters like Iron Man or Jack Sparrow against Elsa or Luke Skywalker. They could control Deadpool and have him fight Miss Piggy in the streets of Springfield. They could even relive the Alien Vs Predator movies but with Pandora from Avatar as the backdrop. The possibilities are endless, and some battles would be absolutely wild. It could also be one of the biggest and most fun platform fighters on the market.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate brought together video games from throughout Nintendo’s history, as well as many classic non-Nintendo titles. MultiVersus will be doing the same thing but for Warner Bros. media, and it looks to be filled with wild crossover potential. Seeing all of these different iconic characters duke it out is a great time for players, and Disney could take that to the next level. Star Wars and the MCU alone would be huge, but if the studio throws in all the other IPs, then the game could be gigantic.
Platform fighter fans will have MultiVersus to look forward to this year, and if it is successful then Disney should really follow suit. With the amount of franchises under its belt, it has the potential to rival Super Smash Bros Ultimate.
MultiVersus is expected to launch in 2022 on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
