Based on gameplay seen in Disintegration’s closed beta it seems the game will approach its genre fusion in an interesting way, with players controlling crews from the top of flying motorbikes called Gravcycles that have their own tools of war. It will only be available through digital on Sony’s PlayStation 4, Microsoft’s Xbox One X, and on PC through Steam.

The new title, spearheaded by Halo co-creator Marcus Lehto, is set in a world where human brains have been removed and “integrated” into robot bodies to prevent extinction according to the game’s website. Disintegration follows an Integrated rebel named Romer Shoal who leads a team hoping to prevent human eradication by the hands of an integrated government who believes they are the next evolution of the species.

After Lehto — a former Bungie creative director — announced Disintegration last July, comparisons were already being made to Bungie’s well-known series like Halo and Destiny. While Disintegration has some similarities in terms of its sci-fi FPS concept and its focus on providing both a single-player campaign and PvP multiplayer, it takes on plenty of its own elements to stand out.

That said, even if Disintegration made an interesting impression out the gate, its closed beta showed some room for improvement. The crews system in particular needed balancing based on the multiplayer aspects players had access to at the time.

Now that interested fans have gotten a better look at the game’s story, it should be interesting to see whether the game has improved since players last got to try Disintegration. Pre-orders are available now for $49.99, and will come complete with in-game content like a special Midnight skin for the Lost Ronin crew, an animated banner, a flex emote, and a customizable Gravcycle medal.

Disintegration will be available for PC, PS4, and Xbox One on June 16, 2020.
