Though the blanket period for the free-to-play availability is July 30 to August 2, it will extend until the 9:00 and 10:00 a.m. on August 3 for PS4 and Steam versions of the game respectively. Once the period ends, players can buy the game to retain any items and achievements, according to the announcement on Disintegration’s website.

To further encourage players to buy the game, Disintegration is currently 40 percent off on PS4, and will have that discount applied to all platforms by the weekend. Only the Overwatch-styled competitive multiplayer will be accessible in the trial, and V1 Interactive says it is adding back-fill to the matchmaking system to “keep online matches as populated as possible.”
Though the initial reception to the game has been lukewarm, elements like Disintegration’s soundtrack by Jon Everist should make it worth trying out for anyone still on the fence. The use of free trial periods has been successful for games like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, so it makes sense for V1 Interactive to jump on the trend.
Disintegration is available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
