Not only does the fresh update for the game provide fans with a chance to experience the title all over again with its New Game Plus mode, but also it offers players the opportunity to access both Corvo and Emily’s powers regardless of which character is chosen. With this being the case, fans should be given the chance to try out even more interesting combinations of the characters’ abilities.
This particular free update for Dishonored 2 releases a little over a month after the game initially launched on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. However, the patch still lacks another feature for which fans have been clamoring, as players currently are unable to go back to specific levels and replay them. Nevertheless, that specific feature will come out in a new update sometime in January, with it also bringing about “custom difficulty” settings.
Beyond Dishonored 2 missing much-wanted features at launch, the game’s personal computer version also lacked a lot to be desired upon its official release date, with fans initially reporting major issues on PC. Some problems that had occurred involved the game struggling to hit 60 frames per second at 1080p during some points, and even dipping to just 13 FPS at others. Eventually, though, Arkane Studios and Bethesda acknowledged the matter by releasing a patch for the performance problems on the platform.
After Dishonored 2’s release last month, it was reported that sales were down by 40 percent in the UK when compared to the figures for the original title in the franchise. Bearing this in mind, it remains to be seen if the dismal sales figures were due to the lack of proper promotion, the PC version’s instability at launch, the game’s lack of features such as New Game Plus, or even a combination of all these symptoms. That said, though, it will be interesting to find out whether or not today’s update will impact Dishonored 2’s sales in a positive way going forward.
