As seen below in the trailer provided by Bethesda, Dishonored 2’s Death of the Outsider DLC is set to provide players with a new slew of powerful supernatural abilities, weapons, and gadgets designed to help former killer-for-hire Billie Lurk in hers and her mentor Daud’s quest to pull off the ultimate assassination. Not to mention, the clip confirms the vocal abilities of Daredevil’s Rosario Dawson as Billie, The Hateful Eight’s Michael Madsen as Daud, and Gotham’s Robin Lord Taylor reprising his role as the Outsider.
Not too long ago, Dishonored 2 creative director Harvey Smith shared details about the DLC, describing the forthcoming Death of the Outsider expansion as “definitely a standalone adventure” rather than just a simple add-on. As it so happens, Arkane Studios has said that it managed to have the fresh bit of content work both as a great way to close out the arc of the story from the first Dishonored onward, and as a solid entry point to the series that won’t involve knowing anything about its story or lore beforehand.
While Dishonored 2 diehards are almost assuredly looking forward to the release of Death of the Outsider, there are likely many who will be somewhat indifferent to its availability, as the stealth-action title has become a rarity in the industry in that it’s a Triple-A release which has garnered loads of critical acclaim, but has ultimately suffered from poor sales. Even so, it’s quite possible that there will be a boost in the title’s financial productivity with certain gamers looking forward to the chance to soon be able to buy both the base game and its expansion content in one fell swoop.
Dishonored 2’s Death of the Outsider expansion is set to launch on September 15, 2017 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
