Facebook streamer DisguisedToast saw a surge in popularity last year as the imposter-hunting indie game Among Us also became widely popular with streamers and content creators. Toast was one of the first streamers to popularize the title as well and created lobbies full of streamers like Sykkuno and Pokimane that viewers came to love. However, on a recent Jimmy Fallon episode, DisguisedToast was not brought on alongside Corpse Husband, Sykkuno, and Valkyrae.

In response to this, many of his fans were concerned about why he was left out of the Jimmy Fallon Among Us stream, but Toast answered that it was likely due to marketing and branding. After all, his peers like Valkyrie and Corpse have reputations for being the biggest female streamer on the internet and a content creator-slash-music artist with a large following, respectively. But now, he has some lighthearted shade to throw at Jimmy Fallon for the lack of invite.

In the Twitch clip, DisguisedToast is showing off a keyboard keycap of an Among Us kill animation. He points out the bone coming out of the top, saying it’s funny because “I play Among Us.” He continues, “I’m kind of known as the Among Us guy, just as anyone… except Jimmy Fallon.”

His fans definitely enjoyed the clever joke, but it is true that Toast is often known as one of the main Among Us streamers, which is a big reason why viewers thought it was strange he was left out of the game. However, even Valkyrae commented on DisguisedToast’s absence recently, revealing that she, too, was not invited to play Among Us by Jimmy Fallon despite her status. Rather, she was invited by Corpse, and if she is ever given the chance to invite someone else to play Among Us, she’d invite Toast, Valkyrae said. “Toast is the face of Among Us,” she said.

So perhaps DisguisedToast’s lack of invite onto Jimmy Fallon was less of a marketing tactic, especially in light of Valkyrae’s missing invite as well, and more due to the celebrity being out of the loop on the gaming scene. Either way, there’s no hurt feelings on Toast’s end, though his fans certainly eat up the small tidbit of drama.

Though Disguised Toast signed a deal with Facebook Gaming, become one of the platform’s flagship streamers, he’s allowed to do the occasional appearance on Twitch to keep in touch with his audience.

Among Us is available now on Mobile, PC, and Switch, with Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S versions planned for 2021.
