The streamer known as Disguised Toast spiked in popularity in 2020 thanks to Among Us, but was also one of the online personalities responsible for the game’s viral fame that occurred during the ongoing pandemic. A member of the content creation group OfflineTV, he often games with Twitch streamers such as Pokimane, Scarra, and LilyPichu—as well as Valkyrae, who has an exclusivity deal with YouTube—but up until recently, could nearly only be found on Facebook Streaming.

Why Disguised Toast Left Twitch
Previously, Disguised Toast hadn’t revealed too many details on why he decided to leave Twitch other than the fact he didn’t regret the move to Facebook. During an interview with The Hollywood Reporter just after his move, though, he said it was because he “felt a little plateaued in terms of [his] growth on Twitch.” Now, however, he’s spoken on just how colossal the Facebook contract was in comparison to Twitch’s, which was “insultingly low,” according to Wang, about 30 times less.
Not only that, but when Toast’s agent attempted to negotiate for a better contract, they were told Twitch already had Faker, another Asian streamer, implying that there wasn’t a necessity for two Asian personalities with large, beneficial contracts on the platform. What the OfflineTV member pointed out, though, is that Faker is a professional League of Legends player and streams very infrequently in comparison, adding insult to injury (though he’s streamed much more often recently).
Disguised Toast’s Return to Twitch
The announcement of his departure from Facebook Gaming appeared on November 17 and was followed by a video tweet captioned with “new platform,” featuring Toast eating a cake taken from a Twitch duffel bag. He went live around the same time, effectively drawing an audience into his gaming streams. Going forward, he will appear on two channels of his on Twitch, his main channel Disguised Toast where he has over 2 million followers as well as one under his real name, Jeremy Wang.
